Understanding FAP resets
My usage shot up to 16.5 gigs so a couple of days ago I shut off my router to try to get it to fall back down. But it appears to be stuck there. I am not using the system at all, I would think my usage should be falling around 500 megs or so a day as I log days with no usage.
So can someone explain to me how this works? When does my usage start to fall again? When I go over the FAP it takes a week or so to get back to below 70% then a day for it to reset. So I am trying to not go over the FAP. But now I am stuck with no internet until I see it starting to fall since I am so close to going over. Any suggestions or thoughts on this would be appreciated. Also does anyone know who to contact to see if I can buy more access than a pro plan and pricing, I use the net extensively for research and am constantly at the limits on the FAP. |

FAP volume is the sum of daily use, accumulated each 24 hours at a time of WB's choosing, summed from day_1 today to day_31 thirty days ago.
At the time of day_1 today's accumulation, day_31 (soon to be day_32) is subtracted. Expanding and reordering the sum shows the daily change in volume to be day_1 - day_31. If today's volume is greater than day_31 then FAP volume will continue to increase. WB sells enterprise plans through resellers. An enterprise plan is the only way that I know to increase the FAP limit - or maybe a second RES account.

So I am not helping myself by turning off my equipment for a couple of days?

The amount of data that you uploaded and downloaded last month on the same day of the month is subtracted off today. For example, if you downloaded 400 MB on April 6, 2009, then 400 MB is subtracted off your download usage today, May 6, 2009.
If you are a new customer, then no usage will be subtracted during your first month of service because you did not have any usage before you got service. Turning off your computer and modem for a few days ensures that you do not add any usage to your FAP meter, but it does not guarantee anything will be subtracted. Subtracting depends on what was added on the same day of last month. |

Thanks
I am finally understanding this FAP thing as far as how they calculate it. Very useful to know when you stay close to the limit most of the time.
