When it takes 40 seconds to do over WildBlue what it takes 4 seconds to do over dialup, the word pinch isn't describing the amount of difference in access time. Doubling the ping times from 650 to 1300 ms wasn't insignificant.

As a matter of fact, it's so slow this morning that two of my three email accounts time out, including WildBlue. I have to access it over dialup.

If that screen comes up in the middle of a bank transfer, is it possible to mess up the transfer? Or does it not affect https pages?

I've taken to surfing over dialup at night. It saves 3-9M per day on the FAP and really hard to tell the difference. Really. Tonight, I didn't notice the modem had hungup until an hour later. And even then it was only because I investigated why the WB tx light was blinking.

https should be immune. If intercepting SSL were that easy, Russian mafia would already have everyone's money.
Also, WB's standard wpad.dat has https go DIRECT rather than to the proxy.

I read the warning as a velvet glove covering an iron fist.

Hey, WB, give News that opt-out!

It's back....in your face....I have 3 Gigs total download now....their program is estimating usage, as based upon about one day's usage...best I can figure...making assumption this usage rate will go on...WRONG.

Watched a number YouTube Videos recently, btw.

PS: News will be gone Thursday....most all of the day...
