beam 13
when WB installs these days they put in a specific box on the tria. It says left or right
and they are different. I had to wait a couple days while the correct one was shipped last summer. I assume that the point of this is that it will only find WB1 or Anik but NOT both. I acts like a filter and this would make it easier to set up with. As far as the beams go.. it might recognize different beams the first time during initial install but after that it only picks the correct one. So it seems an installer only needs an APA for beams 1 time. This means it is easy for the homeowner to do it themselves after the first install. And even if you lost the satellite totally...you could find it with AZ and elev. etc and if you are not close to an overlap of beams you would pick up the correct beam. You couldnt get on the wrong one if its coverage is 100 miles away except the harmonics issue.... this seems to make it easier than some people will let on... |

Yes, you are generally correct.
The information about which spot beam and subcarrier to use is saved in the modem which allows one to swap TRIA's with the same circular polarization without using the APA again. If you ever need to replace your modem, then you would need to provision the modem again and use the APA.
