HELP! I am uploading at night when my computer is off...
I am new to this whole world of Wildblue, so forgive me if I am in the wrong place. I had to upgrade to the highest internet package with Dishnetwork/Wildblue because our Upload usuage was so high. We had just installed Norton 360 and I thought that by Norton backing up my system had pushed us over the limit. Well...each month, we are so high on uploads, they won't even let us go back down to a cheaper package. One of the reps at Dishnetwork suggested coming here. I have fapzilla set up on my pc and it runs every hour but I am not able to find the log it creates. Dishnetwork told me that my biggest uploads are coming in at about 2am-5am during the week. Can someone please tell me what I can do now? thank you!

Here is the official corporate user's forum where employees WILL HELP you...
http://www.wildblueworld.com/forum/ Reading logs will not fix your problem with unauthorized uploads. Get rid of any P2P app, audio/video streaming app. Shut your computer and modem off when not in use.

If I were you I would go immediately to Trend-Micro Housecall and scan your computer. P2P applications are safe to use IF configured properly and if not then remove them from your computer if you are not certain how to configure or use them.

I am doubtful that a P2P application or malware could upload anything when the computer is off. Since Task Scheduler could be waking the computer to perform some operation, check for any scheduled tasks. You could have a program, such as Windows Automatic Update or an anti-virus that is set to wake your computer and automatically update early in the morning. Until you determine what is causing the mysterious uploads, unplugging your Wildblue modem when you are not using it would prevent such unauthorized use. Unless it is a laptop with a good battery and if you are using a power strip, you might be able to truly turn your computer off by using the switch on the power strip.
You could disable automatic updates on all of your software and manually tell them when they are allowed to update. I do this to prevent unauthorized use of my Internet connection and to prevent automatic updates from slowing my computer while I am trying to do something else. Provided you are not using the service in a local area network to share a printer and/or files, you could disable Printer and File Sharing to prevent malware from using this service. This is a good thing to do to better secure your computer. If you want to try this, ask and I can give you instructions for how to do it in Windows XP.

From posts in your thread at Wildblue World on June 8 and June 10, 2009:
Quote:
Unless you specify a different location, Fapzilla puts the log file in the same directory where Fapzilla is located. Wildblue made some changes to their servers a few months ago that interfered with Fapzilla reading the FAP meter. Perhaps that is why Fapzilla is not working for you. Because Microsoft Zune does not appear to be P2P software, it should not be uploading any significant amount of data. I do not think Zune is the cause. It would be helpful if you would tell us what computer and operating system you are using. Do you have Wildblue service directly from Wildblue or from a reseller, such as Dish Network or a NRTC? Does your computer have a WiFi or other wireless capability? If it does, turn it off to ensure that no unauthorized person is using your Internet. Did Trend-Micro's Housecall detect any malware on your computer?

After 8 days, none of the WB employees posted an offer of help to his thread.

No they didn't because he signed up on the other forum and they are helping him there. It would be rather redundant on both forums.
